All Natural and Organic Foods: Not Just for People Anymore

As most people are aware, there is nothing new when it comes to all natural and organic foods.  From major supermarket chains to farmer’s markets, finding foods that have been grown with naturally produced fertilizers or a non-chemical means of pest control is easier than ever.

But would you believe that the trend has moved over to our pets?  You guessed it; Fido is getting on the bandwagon!  The pet industry, which accounts for billions of dollars worth of sales in just the US alone, is responding to the organic trend in force.  As one pet owner puts it, “I know I can do better for my dog.”

Many commercial pet food companies, due to the manufacturing process, cook foods and treats at such high temperature that all of the nutrients are cooked right out of the product.  Not to mention that very few would fall into the “all-natural and organic” category.

Some owners, especially in the world of purebred dogs, find that the constant line breeding that is required to meet AKC standards , can leave animals genetically prone to food allergies, or in some cases what is referred to as food sensitive. It has been rumored that this is how the all-natural and organic demand developed.

But wait it doesn’t stop there… Many owners of pampered pets do not feel there needs to be a problem for them to put their pooch on an all-natural and organic diet, including foods and treats. Yes, even the treats have gone healthy! And for good reason, as treats can contain the most harmful ingredients and are given very frequently in situations of training and praise.

One company that has made its mission to slim down and clean up the pets of the world is Pampered Pooch and Pony. This New Mexico based company has been selling a product line that consists of treats for dogs and horses that are both all-natural and organic.  They even guarantee that each product they sell has five ingredients or less in every batch. Featuring five different treats for dogs and three for horses, the recipes are all packed with antioxidants and Omega 3′s. The company has plans to expand its product line to include food supplements next year, and of course a line of plush toys will be available for the pampered pets of the world.

If you actively buy and eat organic foods, why not extend that same luxury to your pooch?  We are what we eat…why should your dog be any different?
